GRAHAM JEWELERS
Not only is Graham Jewelers beautiful with its copper-wrapped columns, varied wood showcases and warm wood floors, but it is fun and fast paced.
When the Wayzata jeweler took over the space across the road, he faced a number of planning challenges. The entrances came in odd places; Keith Kovar added a staircase to access the second floor. The steeply pitched roof made planning the upstairs difficult; a small office, full kitchen and break room maximize the space.
The red-glass tiled entranceway and drum-shaped wall are accented with shadow boxes. On a warm tiger-striped wood floor, custom wenge and cherry cases provide 150 running feet of merchandise. Copper-wrapped workstations create a focus on two ellipsoid showcase islands. Inside the cases, LED lighting is efficient and makes jewelry and giftware sparkle.

“The warmth of the earth colors contrasting the hard surfaces of copper, wood and glass combine with an unusual plan to make this an intriguing space,” says GRID/3 partner Keith Kovar. “Construction was completed in a record 75 days.” |
