GRID/3 International’s design for the adaptive re-use of an existing restaurant created a distinctive new building for Yelton Fine Jewelers in West Chester, Ohio. The powerful new entrance acts like a giant billboard for the jeweler. The addition of the curved entrance façade with an inset front door and the use of contrasting dark and light stucco create a strong visual play on form that totally alters the shape of the original building. Large rectangular vertical paned windows on the corners contribute to the visual and admit natural light into the interior.
Inside, the theme of the curved storefront is repeated in a series of concentric rings. Curved showcases and circular spaces display extensive merchandise that slows shoppers to extend their shopping enjoyment.
Mark Yelton says “Bigger decisions are ahead in positioning Yelton’s as a bridal and a fashion-forward store.”
