Jacob Benari’s space in a lifestyle mall in Exton, PA meant customers would enter both front and back doors. Designer Keith Kovar created a double-ended store: both entrances function like front doors with decorative columns and tiled vestibules. Where could the backroom functions like the manager’s office, staffroom and jeweler be accommodated?
Kovar planned these along the sides of the store, using curved walls to hide the behind-the-scenes operations. Showcases run along the front of the walls; island cases shaped like open-ended snails contribute to traffic flow.

“Normally, jewelry stores are designed around the showcases but by working around the walls, I was able to create a much more interesting environment despite the shoebox shape,” says Kovar.
