PLATEAU JEWELERS
Sammamish, WA
Custom-jeweler Kelly Jensen wanted to expand his showcase footage and accommodate all of his equipment in the same 1000 sq. ft. space, which he had occupied for 10 years. After the store was gutted, every inch was planned to accommodate a dedicated workroom space for Kelly with a window into the store, incorporating his tools, drawers and files, as needed and an ADA-compliant washroom. An office for two people looks out onto the showroom.
To soften the nearly square space, Kovar utilized curves in the plan. A serpentine run of showcase loops around the store. Plateau’s corporate colour of periwinkle blue became the driving force for the colour tones of blue and gold balanced by neutrals and interspersed with a couple of areas featured by a colourful beaded wall covering. By varying the ceiling heights to accommodate the lights and to further animate the space, Kovar also broke up the sound. The floor is carpeted and there are custom stools made for a sit-down bridal area and another for high-end watches.
The crisply beautiful and functional space gives a clear message to customers that this is a creative place where custom jewelry is manufactured onsite. Set beside a couple of lakes, the new space provides an ideal home for Plateau Jewelers in Sammamish, Washington.
